CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team defeated Coastal Carolina for the second time in 26 days in a down-to-the wire 84-81 victory.
The Chanticleers scored the first two buckets of the contest before going on a three-minute scoring drought while the Cougars went on a 7-0 run.
Coastal Carolina came within one point at 19-18 in six minutes to play in the first half before an
Ante Brzovic jumper put the Cougars back up three.
A
Ben Burnham dunk and three-pointer in the final minutes of the frame propelled the Cougars to a 6-0 run to enter the locker room up 37-28. Burnham had 12 points in the frame while
Kobe Rodgers grabbed eight boards.
The teams traded points out of the half until a 7-0 run featuring a steal and score by Rodgers and a slam dunk from CAA Rookie of the Week
James Scott gave the Cougars their largest lead of the game at 60-49 with just under ten minutes to play. TD Arena was the loudest it's been this season after a diving save from Burnham on the defensive end that led to yet another emphatic dunk from Scott off a pass from
Khalil London to extend the edge to 14.
The Chanticleers did not go down without a fight and made it a two-possession game with less than a minute remaining after going 6-for-8 from the field. Coastal cut it to one point at 81-80 with seven seconds remaining before a successful trip to the line from
