Charleston Returns to Action at SAISA North Spring Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston sailing returns to action this Saturday, Feb. 25 for the annual SAISA North Spring Tournament hosted by crosstown rival The Citadel.

A total of 11 schools will be represented at the Daniel Island Yacht Club racing in C420 dinghies on the waters of the Wando River across two divisions. Charleston won the SAISA North Fall Tournament cruising to a 13-point win over both NC State and UNCW. Ethan Homberger and Grace Beard delivered a win in all three B-Division races while Fredrikke Foss and Garrett Grenauer accumulated 10 points in A-Division.

Last time out Charleston placed fourth in the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta battling the elements over the two day event posting 23 points to tie both Rhode Island and Clemson. Charleston finished no lower than third in their first five rotations but were unable to hold onto the overall lead in the final race.
