Cross Country Teams Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams have both earned spots on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic squads for the 2022 season.
To qualify for the list, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 through the most recent grading period. The Cougar men have a combined GPA of 3.45 while the women boast a 3.74 average.
Sophomore Dylan McTigue and graduate student Jack Wedge both had 4.0 averages in the fall. McTigue has the top cumulative GPA among undergraduates with at least three semesters at 3.925 followed by junior Jackson Wedge at 3.555. Freshman Joshua Silverman turned in a 3.944 GPA in his first semester at CofC.
The women have six athletes with GPAs above 3.5 and more than 60 undergraduate credits earned. That list is headed by senior Rhian Purves, who has maintained a 4.0 average throughout her collegiate career.
Purves is followed by sophomore Sophia Brown (3.979), senior Isabel Muehleman (3.971) and junior Shannon Smith (3.516) among team members who have spent their entire time at CofC. Juniors Hannah Wise and Abbey Arnett, both transfers from Georgia Southern, are at 3.893 and 3.756, respectively.
Purves and Brown along with Cayden Crismon, Meike Kalus and Olivia Kneski had 4.0 GPAs for the fall semester.
