CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston beach volleyball went 2-0 to open the 2023 CofC Beach Classic Saturday highlighted by a 3-2 win over No. 20 Coastal Carolina in the second match.
Charleston got their morning started with a quick 5-0 sweep of Catawba.

- Charleston swept their way through the morning match against Catawba 5-0 with straight-set wins on all five courts.
- The Cougars made it a three-match win streak taking a 3-2 thriller over No. 20 Coastal Carolina in the Noon matchup.
- Coastal got on the board first with a three-set win on the fourth court, but Ella Reames and Maria Zweig answered right back on court two to make it 1-1.
- The Chanticleers would take court three to claim back a 2-1 lead.
- Elizabeth Curry and Alli Grant Avery halted the Chanticleer momentum taking a three-set decision on the fifth court setting the stage for heroics on one.
- Gabi Bailey and Kyra Thompson put the final nail in the coffin sweeping away their counterparts 21-19, 21-16 for the Cougars' first top-20 win of the season.
