Four Cougars Score in Double Figures in Quarterfinal Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  The College of Charleston men's basketball team defeated Stony Brook 74-52 on Sunday night in the CAA quarterfinals to advance to semifinal round on Monday. The Cougars will face either Towson or Delaware at 8:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. Charleston has now 29 games this season, the most by any Division I team in the country.

The Cougars started the game on an 11-0 run with baskets from Reyne Smith, Dalton Bolon, Ante Brzovic and Ryan Larson while causing three turnovers in the opening three minutes of the game. Charleston held the Seawolves to just four points at the second media timeout while outshooting Stony Brook 53% to 22% during the stretch.

The Seawolves went on a 6-0 run before a Raekwon Horton triple pushed to Charleston lead back to 16 with just over two minutes remaining. Charleston entered the locker room up 42-26 led by Smith with ten first half points. The Cougars made eight from behind the arc in the frame.

Brzovic kicked off the second half with a trey to help push the Cougars to a 52-36 edge. After going scoreless for nearly three minutes, Brzovic again played hero by converting a successful old fashioned three-point play. He would make that same trip three times in the half.

Charleston held the lead and never looked back, earning the program's second straight trip to the semifinals of the conference tournament.
