
Charleston Heads to Huntsville for Sun Belt Title Pursuit

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston beach volleyball starts their 2023 postseason march Thursday at the Sun Belt Championships. The Cougars earned the No. 2 seed after a 6-4 record their first season as a Sun Belt member with wins over UNCW, Mercer and Coastal Carolina.
The Cougars open their stay in Huntsville with No. 7 seed Mercer at 11:30 a.m. Charleston won their lone match against the Bears, a 5-0 sweep the second weekend of the season at the UNF Invitational.
Charleston has a chance to reach the 20-win plateau for a second-straight season and third time in program history entering the tournament 19-10 overall. The Cougars have won 16 of their last 20 matches including a nine-match streak in late March.
Charleston finished 3-2 in the ASUN Tournament last season picking up wins over Eastern Kentucky, Mercer and Stephen F. Austin before falling to eventual champion Stetson in the semifinals.
All Charleston matches in the Sun Belt Championships will be live streamed on ESPN+.
