Cougars Snaps Charleston Southern's 12 Match Winning Streak to Claim City Title

CHARLESTON, S.C.—The College of Charleston women's tennis team defeated Charleston Southern 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the College of Charleston Tennis Center.

Charleston battled their way to a 1-0 victory in doubles as Maja Jekauc and Klara Vukicevic picked up a 6-3 win on court three and Ella Faessler and Nicole Stephens grabbed a 7-5 win on court two.

Faessler and Stephens picked up quick wins for the Cougars on courts four and five. Stephens (16-3) has won 12 straight singles matches. Slade Coetzee and Jekauc both forced third sets and came out on top.

So proud of the Cougars for earning the city title, it was a very difficult match and certainly a challenge and well deserved. We're looking forward to having as many people come out on Friday to honor our seniors as possible if you haven't seen Slade Coetzee and Nicole Stephens play in person, you're missing out come out and see them play on Friday and honor them on their senior day"
