
Cougars Finish Second in SAISA Open Team Race

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – College of Charleston sailing placed second at the SAISA Open Team Race finishing 11-4 overall – 4-1 in the Top 6 round and 2-1 in the Final Four.
Charleston started their Friday with a 5-2 mark in round robin taking down The Citadel, Eckerd, NC State, Jacksonville and USF. In the Top 6 round the Cougars took wins over NC State, Jacksonville, Eckerd and Florida State. Saturday saw a Final Four round with the Cougars going 2-1 with wins over Florida State and Jacksonville but falling to eventual champion Miami.
The Cougars were led by skippers Jack Howard, Axel Stordahl, Brandon Geller and Noah Zittrer with crew members Anna Sherry, Lucy Klempen and Noelle Owen.
Friday's action got started at 10 a.m. and saw one full round robin then a Top 6 race with a slight breeze and 8-10 knots. Saturday started with a sail off for a spot in the Final Four between NC State and Jacksonville with Miami taking the title.
Charleston continues their stay in St. Petersburg Saturday and Sunday with the Tillman Trophy on the line in the SAISA Open Fleet Race.
