Seven Races on Tap for 2023 Cross Country Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams will compete seven times this fall beginning with the Buccaneer Invitational at Charleston Southern on September 1.
In addition to the opening event of the season, the Cougars will run in two other meets at familiar venues. On September 30 they will be part of the field at the Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park, and the following week the Cougars will race at the Royals Challenge at McAlpine Park in Charlotte.
Charleston competed at Louisville in the NCAA Southeast Regional last fall and have participated at McAlpine Park in four of the past five seasons.
The regular season schedule also includes the Adidas Challenge at WakeMed Park in Cary, N.C., on September 15 and the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg on October 14. The team will return to the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg on November 10 for the Southeast Regional.
The CAA Championships take place October 27 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va.
The women's team returns all five scorers from last year's conference championships, led by graduate student Rhian Purves as well as Hannah Wise, Sophia Brown, Shannon Smith and Cayden Crismon.
The men return four of their top five runners from the CAA Meet, including top finisher Hammer Blair. Also back after scoring at the conference championships last year are Dylan McTigue, Jackson Reid and Nik Pettinga.
