
Fall Dominance Continues for Charleston Sailing

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The fall season has been kind to College of Charleston sailing as they collected three more outright wins over the weekend as well as a T-1st in their first offshore regatta.
The Cougars claimed their third SAISA win in as many weekends taking the Match Race Championship at home outlasting Jacksonville, earning the SAISA bid in the College Match Race National Championship in early November.
Over on the Ashley River, the Cougars posted a 20-point win to claim yet another Ashley River Trophy with 18 points in 14 rotations. The Cougars crossed the finish line first 11 times and never placed lower than third.
The third outright win of the weekend came in the Women's Sugar Bowl regatta down in Louisiana where Charleston posted 91 points across two divisions and defeated the host Tulane through tiebreak. The Cougars had a regatta-best 36 points in B Division to complete the comeback effort finishing among the top two in each of the final four rotations.
The Charleston offshore team finished T-1st in the Great Lakes Collegiate Offshore Regatta posting 19 points, posting podium finishes in seven of their eight races.
In the Sugar Bowl Open, the Cougars placed third among a field of nine posting 117 points between two divisions. Charleston was one of just three teams to post fewer than 70 points in both divisions collecting podium finishes in 12 of the 18 rotations.
