Cougars Turn in Solid Times at Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – All five College of Charleston women's scorers finished in the top 60 in a field of over 200 runners at the Pirate Invitational on Friday.

Sophia Brown once again led the way by covering the 6k course in a time of 22:12.9 to finish 17th and lead the Cougars to fifth place out of 20 teams. Brown has been Charleston's No. 1 runner in all three meets so far this fall.

Also scoring for Charleston were Caroline Himstreet (32nd, 22:38.2), Savannah Stoutt (36th, 22:44.4), Cayden Crismon (50th, 23:00.4) and Jeorgi Gavalas (60th, 23:10.5).

Andrew Catapano paced the men with a time of 26:04.6 in the 8k race. He was followed by Connor Forche (26:23.1), Finn Myatt (26:28.7), Ben Ashmore (26:29.7) and Nathan Hallar (26:31.7).

The Cougars race next on October 18 at the Phoenix Invitational. The meet will be the first of two straight there as Elon also hosts the CAA Championships on November 1.
