
Charleston Splits Weekend at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Emily Banitt had a career-high 28 kills, but Charleston's comeback attempt fell short in five sets (17-25, 26-28, 26-24, 25-22 and 10-15) Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook.
The Cougars are now 13-5 overall and 5-1 in the CAA while the Seawolves sit at 10-5 and 3-3 in league play.

Three different Cougars tallied career-highs in the victory, paced by Emily Banitt's career-best 22 kills and 23 digs. Hannah Scott also dished out a collegiate best 58 assists while Emily Dykes totaled a career high eight blocks.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- Stony Brook jumped out a 6-2 lead in the fifth set, holding the advantage through the entirety of the frame.
CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST STONY BROOK:
- Charleston hit .213 as a team, led by Banitt's 28 kills.
- Defensively, four Cougars recorded double-digit digs.
- Emily Dykes tied her career-high with eight blocks, while Caitlyn Callahan had seven and Allie Holland blocked six attacks.
- Holland had 10 kills in the loss, the fifth instance this season she'd reached double-digit kills.
- Scott recorded a game-high 54 assists.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 4-3 against Stony Brook all-time and are 1-1 when a match goes to five sets.
- Banitt's 28 kills are the third-most in a match in program history and most since Devon Rachel's 30 on Oct. 21, 2018.
- Bantt is also the first Cougar with back-to-back games with at least 22 kills since Madelyn McGinnis in 2011.
- Scott has dished out 50-plus assists in three straight matches.
- Scott picked up her seventh double-double while Banitt tallied her eighth double-double this season.
- The Cougars recorded their 10th game of the season with 10-or-more blocks.
