VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – College of Charleston turned in an outstanding final round of 5-under par 275 to cruise to a 17-shot victory at the Evie Odom Invitational on Sunday at the Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach.

The Cougars finished at 2-under par 838 to pull away from what had been just a four-shot lead entering final round play. The win was the second in a row for the Cougars and represented the largest team margin in the history of the event. 

Emma Schimpf earned medalist honors by finishing at 10-under 200, including rounds of 68, 66 and 66, for a three-shot win. The senior from Daniel Island set a new Charleston record by winning for the sixth time in her career.

Schimpf's final round featured a hole-in-one on 11 and four birdies as she picked up her second straight tournament title after winning the Tot Hill Farm Invitational two weeks ago. The 66s on Saturday and Sunday were her season best rounds.

Molly Hardwick also starred over the weekend, following an even par opening round with a 68 and 67 over the final 36 holes to finish at 5-under and in third place. She birdied a pair of holes and posted an eagle at the par 4 five.

"That was one of the best final rounds I have ever had a team play in the final group competing for a championship," said head coach Jamie Futrell, who picked up his 39th career win, good for 10th among active coaches.

"Congrats to Emma. What a performance it was. It was a total team effort, but Molly and Emma were special the last two days."

Adrian Anderson had her best round of the tournament with an even-par 70 and posted a score of 216 (+6) to climb to a tie for 19th. Emilie von Finckenstein (220) and Emilia von Glahn (230) rounded out the Cougar lineup while Mary Kathryn Talledo finished at 222 competing as an individual.

The Cougars are back in action October 14-15 when they host the Edisto Island Invitational.
