
Charleston Faces North Carolina Central at Home

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team is set to host North Carolina Central on Wednesday, November 13 inside TD Arena their alumni game. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.

- CofC kicked off the first week of basketball season with a pair of victories at home, defeating Meredith on Monday and Robert Morris on Saturday.
- The Cougars defeated RMU in overtime 74-69 for the first time since 1982. Charleston met the Colonials on the road last year and fell 65-71.
- Charleston entered the new season after an impressive 2023-24 season, finishing 22-10. The Cougars gathered the most wins in a season since 2009-10 and competed in the postseason for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
- Three CofC players tallied double digits in the Saturday matchup, with Jazmyn Stone leading the team with 20 points. Taryn Barbot tallied 16 points while Taylor Barbot found a career-high ten points.
- Taryn Barbot enters Wednesday averaging 15.5 points per game, leading the team in assists.
- The sophomore guard enters November continuing to make history by earning the program's first CAA Preseason Player of the Year nomination, voted on by the conference's coaches.
- The New York native was named the program's first rookie of the year after an impressive 2023-24 campaign, earning six weekly awards and starting all 17 matchups for CofC.
- Barbot averaged 14.6 points in her debut year and scored a season-high 36 points on January 14- the most by any CAA player last season.
- Stone returned to the court after 611 days, tallying a game-high 20 points.
- The redshirt-sophomore sunk three buckets from the arc with seven field goals in 26 minutes of play.
- The Washington native missed the entirety of last season after an injury.
- The Cougars hold a 3-0 record versus the Eagles, most recently defeating NC Central on the road in 2020.
- NCC enters the matchup 0-4 on the season, falling to Chattanooga on Monday evening 36-75.
- The last time the Eagles came to TD Arena was in 2019, where Charleston took an 85-78 win on their home court.
- NC Central is led by Kyla Bryant, who has led the Eagles in scoring in the last 3-4 matchups.
- Two Eagles are averaging double-digit scoring on the season, with Bryant averaging 13.3 and Morgan Callahan with 10.3 points per game.
- Charleston topped the CAA last season in offensive rebounds per game and landed 16th in the country as well.
- The Cougars rank first in the NCAA in turnover margin with 23.5.
- Charleston comes in at second in the nation in turnovers forced per game with 36.
- CofC ranks second in the NCAA in steals per game with 21.5
