
Cougars Face Iona in First Road Test

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team is set to face Iona in their first road test of the season. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. in New Rochelle, N.Y.

- CofC enters the matchup 3-0, hosting three matches inside TD Arena to kick off the season.
- The Cougars have faced Iona once in program history, falling to the Gaels inside TD Arena in 1998.
- Charleston entered the new season after an impressive 2023-24 season, finishing 22-10. The Cougars gathered the most wins in a season since 2009-10 and competed in the postseason for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
- The Cougars defeated North Carolina Central last Wednesday, led by Taryn Barbot with 17 points while Marissa Brown tallied a career-high 14 points after downing three shots beyond the arc.
- Taryn Barbot enters Wednesday averaging 16.0 points per game, leading the team in assists.
- The sophomore guard enters November continuing to make history by earning the program's first CAA Preseason Player of the Year nomination, voted on by the conference's coaches.
- The New York native was named the program's first rookie of the year after an impressive 2023-24 campaign, earning six weekly awards and starting all 17 matchups for CofC.
- Barbot averaged 14.6 points in her debut year and scored a season-high 36 points on January 14- the most by any CAA player last season.
- Stone returned to the court after 611 days, tallying a game-high 20 points versus Robert Morris and earning the start versus North Carolina Central
- The redshirt-sophomore sunk three buckets from the arc with seven field goals in 26 minutes of play versus RMU.
- The Washington native missed the entirety of last season after an injury.
- The Cougars hold a 0-1 record versus the Gaels, falling inside TD Arena in 1998. Charleston has never competed at Iona.
- Iona is 0-3 on the season, most recently falling to Rutgers 53-81 on the road last Friday morning.
- The Gaels are averaging 50 points per game while shooting 30 percent from the field. Judith Gomez currently leads the squad averaging 10.3 points per game.
- Charleston topped the CAA last season in offensive rebounds per game and landed 16th in the country as well.
- Four players are averaging double-digit scoring after three games to kick off the season.
- Lara Rohkohl is averaging 10.3 boards per game, the only Cougar in double-digit rebounds.
