
Stone Returns, Leads Cougars to Overtime Victory Over Robert Morris

CHARLESTON, S.C.- Jazmyn Stone returned to the court after 611 days, leading the College of Charleston women's basketball team to a 74-69 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon in TD Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars improve to 2-0 on the season, defeating Robert Morris for the first time since 1982. Charleston will return to TD Arena for the next three of their four matchups. CofC ended their 2023-24 season with a 13-2 record in TD Arena, proving their homecourt advantage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Taryn Barbot started the day from beyond the arc with a three-point bucket to tie the game at three.
- Charleston knocked down 11 free-throws in the first half to assist in their lead, compared to RMU's two. CofC ended the day with 25 points off free-throws.
- A three-point bucket from Sophia Tougas starting the scoring run for the Cougars to take a seven-point lead into the half.
- Charleston regained the lead in the fourth after a six-point deficit with a clutch shot from Taylor Barbot to beat the shot clock.
- The two teams ended the third tied at 56, and after both teams downed 12 points in the fourth, the game headed into overtime.
- After nine lead changes, CofC sunk 7-of-8 free throws in extra time to secure the win.
- The Cougars narrowly outrebounded their opponent 42-40, while the Cougar defense forced 23 turnovers and grabbed 11 steals.
- Stone returned for the Cougars after a year off the court, leading the team in scoring with 20 points in 26 minutes of play.
- Taryn Barbot secured her second double-digit scoring game with 16 points on the day. Adding 12 boards, the sophomore grabbed her first double-double of the season.
- Taylor Barbot hit double-digits with 10 points on the day, earning her first three-point bucket of her collegiate career.
- McKinley Brooks-Sumpter tallied eight points in the matchup after finishing the day perfect from the charity stripe.
