SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – College of Charleston lost to No. 17 Utah in straight sets (21-25, 19-25 and 15-25) Thursday evening in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Caitlyn Callahan recorded a team-best eight kills and seven blocks for the Cougars, while Hannah Scott added 19 assists and nine digs.

Charleston finished the season 25-9 overall and while winning the CAA regular season title and conference championship.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST UTAH:

Charleston tallied eight blocks in set one with Callahan being part of seven of those.
The eight blocks were tied for the most in a frame this season.
Scott, Emily Banitt and Tynley Smeltzer led the defensive attack with nine digs each.
Six different Cougars had multiple blocks, including Banitt, Scott and Emily Dykes.

Charleston faced Utah for the first time in program history.
The Cougars set a program record of 348 total blocks in 2024.
