
Cougars Set for Rematch at Towson

TOWSON, Md. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team faces off with the Towson Tigers for the second time this season on Saturday, February 24 in Maryland. Action is set for noon at TU Arena and on CBS Sports Network.

STORYLINES
- Charleston is currently one-game ahead of UNCW in the CAA league standings while Towson is in a three-way tie for third with Hofstra and Drexel entering the final week of CAA play.
- The Cougars are coming off a 90-71 victory over Delaware on Thursday night. 11 different players scored as the Cougars shot 52% from the field, their fourth game over 50% this season. Rodgers led the way with 20 points followed by Ante Brzovic, Burnham and James Scott with 11 each. Charleston tied their season-high with 11 steal vs. the Blue Hens.
- Charleston ranks seventh in the country in bench points per game (32.18), third in three-point attempts per game (31.0), and 11th in total three-pointers per game (10.2). CJ Fulton leads the nation in assist turnover ratio (4.56), having totaled 114 assists on the year and 23 turnovers with just four during the month of February.
- Six different Cougars average at least eight point per game, led by Brzovic with 12.6, Ben Burnham with 12.1 and Reyne Smith with 11.7.
- Towson took advantage of an early 6-0 run and hit four straight triples to go up 16-7 at the first media timeout. CofC started to fight back, forcing two consecutive turnovers and a two-minute scoring drought from the Tigers.
- The Cougars fell behind by as much as nine in the first half. Charleston continued to fight and tied it at 28-28 a Brzovic three-point play. Burnham drained a triple to take a 33-30 lead, giving the Cougars their first lead since the opening basket. Both teams traded triples in the final minute of the half. It looked like Towson would enter the locker room up two until Rodgers drove down the court with five seconds remaining to tie the game at 38-38.
- Both teams traded baskets out of the locker room to keep the score tight within four. The Cougar defense forced three turnovers in a two-minute span before commanding a 6-0 run, not allowing a Towson basket for three minutes.
- The Tigers responded with a 7-0 run of their own to take a 59-54 lead. The Cougars forced four straight misses before falling into a six-minute drought from the field while Towson pushed their lead to 74-61. The Cougars battled back but the Tigers offense was too much to overcome late.
