
Beach Volleyball Heads to Columbia for Wheeler Beach Bash

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston beach volleyball team heads to the state capital this weekend for the Wheeler Beach Bash. The Cougars will contest four matches over Saturday and Sunday.
Charleston began the season last weekend with a double header at UNCW. The Cougs dropped both matches against the Seahawks by a 5-0 scoreline. This weekend, Charleston will begin play early on Saturday, taking on UNCW once again at 9:00 a.m. In the afternoon, the Cougs will face off with Chattanooga. On Sunday, Charleston will begin play with at 1:00 p.m. with Coastal Carolina before taking on hosts South Carolina at 5:00 p.m.
The Cougs faced off against Coastal last season five times. Each team took two matches in the regular season but Coastal notched a win in the fifth meeting at the Sun Belt Championships. Charleston also contested South Carolina last season, dropping the match 4-1 against the Gamecocks.
