COLUMBIA, S.C. – Kaitlynn Bailey set two school records and entered the top 10 in a third to lead the College of Charleston track and field team at the South Carolina Invite on Saturday.
Bailey broke her own record in the 60, lowering her personal best time to 7.69, and ran 25.53 in the 200 to move into the top spot. She finished her day with a mark of 59.99 in the 400, good for eighth place in the Cougar record book.
Emily Kreek entered the top 10 in the 200 by tying for eighth at 26.70 while also climbing a spot from fifth to a tie for fourth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.12.
Charleston athletes claimed two event wins with Sophia Brown finishing first in the 5000 (17:47.15) to move up two spots to fifth in school history. Rhian Purves is now second in Cougar annals and captured the mile in 4:54.68.
Three other athletes made record book moves highlighted by Madison Jent's mark of 3.75m (12 feet, 3 ½ inches) in the pole vault, the second-best indoor performance in that event. Kylie Dougherty debuted in the record book in a tie for ninth in the high jump (1.56m, 5'1 ¼"), and Abby Fush moved up to ninth in the triple jump (10.97m, 36'0").
The team is off next weekend before rounding out the indoor regular season on February 17 at the USC Invite.
