
Cougars Primed for Solid Showing at CAA Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. – A total of 16 College of Charleston athletes will compete in 12 events at the CAA Championships on Thursday and Friday at the Robertson Track & Field Complex in Elon, N.C.
The Cougar entries are headlined by Luzy Lieger, who will be seeking her fourth consecutive pole vault title (second outdoor) and sixth time on the podium. Lieger is the top seed with a season-high mark of 4.00m (13'1 ½").
Freshman Madison Jent is ranked fourth in the conference in the pole vault at 3.86m (12'8") and scored in the event with a sixth-place finish at the indoor championships.
Kaitlynn Bailey will look to cap her outstanding season by scoring in the 100 and 200. She is the school record holder at both distances and is seeded 10th in the 100 with a time of 11.73.
Rhian Purves leads the middle distance runners with a No. 6 seed in the 1500 after tying the school record (4:27.60) at the Aggie Invitational last week. Purves earned a podium spot last spring with a third-place finish in the 1500.
Two Cougars are ranked in the top 10 in the 10,000 with Cayden Crismon standing seventh (35:48.82) and Maeve Gimbert placing ninth (36:13.90). That duo will also run the 5000 along with Purves, Sophia Brown and Savannah Stoutt.
Stoutt is also entered in the 3000 steeplechase and brings the seventh-fastest time of the year in the CAA into the meet (11:03.85).
