
CofC Wins Fourth Straight

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston had 15 blocks in a straight set (26-24, 25-14 and 25-16) victory against Charleston Southern Tuesday night in TD Arena.
Allie Holland had a season-high seven blocks while Emily Banitt collected six of her own as the Cougars won its fourth-straight match, improving to 7-4 on the season. Skylar Yates had a game-best 14 kills for Charleston Southern, who falls to 3-7 in 2024.

- Morgan Cobb collected her second solo block of the season in the second set, giving the Cougars a 18-10 advantage. Charleston never looked back as it sailed to the straight set win.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN:
- Charleston out-paced Charleston Southern in attacking percentage, digs and blocks.
- The Cougars held the Buccaneers to a -.071 attacking percentage in the second set and .038 in the third set.
- Four CofC players had double-digit digs, led by Tynley Smeltzer's 14.
- Banitt had 10 digs, eight kills and six block assists throughout the match.
- Six different players had multiple blocks defensively for The College.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston recorded its 40th win against Charleston Southern Tuesday, improving to 40-8 overall. The Cougars have won 19 of the last 21 matches and are now 29-4 against the Buccaneers in three set matches.
- This is the first opponent CofC has reached the 40-win plateau against.
- The Cougars' seven total blocks in the second set were a season high. Charleston's previous high was 6.5 total blocks in the first set of the season against Western Carolina.
- Banitt's six blocks tied her career high, the fourth time she has reached six blocks in her career.
- Hannah Scott picked up her fourth double-double of the season and sixth of her career, dishing out 26 assists and tallying 13 digs.
- Cole Crews and Deanna Dollar made their TD Arena debuts in the win. Dollar recorded a pair of kills in the third set.
- Olivia Mae Van Der Werff had one of Charleston's three solo blocks. Van Der Werff also had a kill in the victory.
- Holland's seven total blocks gives her 490 for her collegiate career.
