Charleston Begins Conference Play at Elon

ELON, N.C. – College of Charleston starts Coastal Athletic Association action on the road, traveling to Elon Sept. 21 and 22. The matches are scheduled for noon and 1 p.m. from the Schar Center.

OPENING SERVE:

Charleston beat Charleston Southern Tuesday in straight sets, capping off a perfect 4-0 homestand inside TD Arena.
The Cougars picked up their 40th all-time win versus the Buccaneers, the most against a single opponent in program history.
CofC recorded 15 total blocks in the victory, the fifth consecutive home match with double-digit blocks.
Charleston's seven total blocks in the second set were the most in a set this season.
Allie Holland recorded a season-high seven blocks in the victory while Emily Banitt's six tied her career-best.
CofC enters the weekend with the third-most total blocks in the country with 116.0 and 11th in blocks per set with 2.97.
The Cougars have also held opponents to a .147 attacking percentage, which is good for second in the CAA and 23rd in the nation.

SCOUTING ELON:

Elon is 6-5 in 2024, already surpassing last season's five wins. Only one of Elon's six wins this season have come in straight sets with four of those contests going to five. Sydney Love leads the team offensively with 142 kills, good for 3.46 kills/set. Defensively, Caroline Doyle has 170 digs, which is 24th in the country.

SERIES HISTORY:

The Cougars are 31-5 against the Phoenix all-time and are 20-0 in three set victories. Charleston also holds a 10-2 record when the match goes to four sets. CofC swept the season series in 2023, beating Elon in four sets and five sets in TD Arena.

Charleston hosts Campbell in TD Arena Sept. 27 and 28. The matches are scheduled for 4 p.m. and noon with both contests airing on FloVolleyball. Admission to all home contests are free of charge.
