Cougars Face Towson in Conference Opener

CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston women's basketball will kick off conference play on Friday, January 3 inside TD Arena facing Towson. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.

OPENING TIP

The Cougars wrapped up nonconference play with a 9-2 record, most recently splitting a pair of games in the Hawk Classic.
Charleston defeated Northwestern in their first game of the Hawk Classic, 68-62, earning their first Power 4 win since 2009.
CofC returns to TD Arena with a 5-1 record on their home court this season. The Cougars finished their 2023-24 season a 13-2 record inside TD Arena.
Three Cougars earned weekly honors in nonconference play, most recently when Taylor Barbot was named CAA Player of the Week for double-digit performances in the Hawk Classic.
Charleston will be searching for their third consecutive conference opener win, after the Cougars began CAA play last season with a win over North Carolina A&T.
CofC finished the 2023-24 season 0-3 against the Tigers, falling to Towson twice in the regular season and again in the conference tournament.

The Cougars lead the nation in steals per game, averaging 15.4 per contest.
Taryn Barbot's ten buckets beyond the arc versus Charleston Southern is the second-highest amount of three's scored in a women's basketball game during the 2024-25 season. The leading number is 11 in a game.
Charleston garnered a crowd of 4,399 in their season opener versus Meredith, the largest home crowd in program history.
Charleston stands second in the nation in turnover margin and turnovers forced per game.
Junior forward Lara Rohkohl ranks fourth in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and 12^th in blocks per game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

The Tigers enter conference play 2-9 on the season, most recently falling to Columbia at home.
Towson will hit the road for the first time since November, when the Tigers split their two-game stint in Puerto Rico.
Three Tigers are averaging double-digit scoring on the season, paced by India Johnston, averaging 12.1 points across 11 contests.
