
Cougars Face Hofstra in Road Matchup

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team will face Hofstra on Friday, January 10 in their first road contest of conference play. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.

- Charleston kicked off conference play inside TD Arena, taking wins over Towson and Stony Brook. McKinley Brooks-Sumpter led the team on the weekend, averaging 16 points per game to earn CAA Player of the Week.
- CofC wrapped up nonconference play with a 9-2 record, defeating Northwestern in their first game of the Hawk Classic, 68-62, earning their first Power 4 win since 2009.
- CofC holds a 7-1 record on their home court this season. The Cougars finished their 2023-24 season a 13-2 record inside TD Arena.
- Three Cougars earned weekly honors in nonconference play, most recently when Taylor Barbot was named CAA Player of the Week for double-digit performances in the Hawk Classic.
- The Cougars stands third in nation in steals per game, averaging 14.9 per contest.
- Taryn Barbot's ten buckets beyond the arc versus Charleston Southern is the second-highest amount of three's scored in a women's basketball game during the 2024-25 season. The leading number is 11 in a game.
- Charleston garnered a crowd of 4,399 in their season opener versus Meredith, the largest home crowd in program history.
- Charleston stands fourth in the nation in turnover margin and turnovers forced per game.
- Junior forward Lara Rohkohl ranks second in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and 12th in blocks per game. Rohkohl grabbed nine offensive rebounds in the win over Towson on Friday night and has four double-doubles on the season.
- The Pride enter the contest with a 7-6 record on the season, starting conference play 2-0 with road wins over Monmouth and Delaware.
- Hofstra most recently defeated the Blue Hens 63-57 after outscoring their opponent 21-9 in the third quarter.
- The Pride is led by Chloe Sterling, averaging 15.5 points per game. Sterling has tallied double-digit scoring in the last four games.
- Emma Von Essen and Lanae' Corbett also are averging double-digits for Hofstra.
