EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. -  The College of Charleston women's golf team erased a six stroke day one deficit on day two of the Edisto Island Invitational to take the top spot entering Tuesday's final round.
The Cougars are five strokes ahead of second place Elon, turning in the top second round team card by nine strokes. Through wet and rainy conditions, Charleston leads the field in total pars (117) and are last in total bogeys (31) after two rounds.
Molly Hardwick separated herself in the individual standings as one of two players to turn in an under par round (-2) so far in the competition. The senior sank three birdies during Monday's play with only one bogey to take a two stroke advantage in the individual standings.
Three Cougars join Hardwick in the top 15 led by Carys Fennessy in third (+3), and Adrian Anderson and Emilie von Finckenstein tied at T14 (+9). Fennessy played an even par second round with four birdies, the most of any Cougar on the day, to climb two spots in the individual standings.
Charleston will look to earn the program's third straight victory in Edisto during tomorrow's final round.
