
Charleston Earns Road Win at N.C. Central

DURHAM, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (4-0) grinded out a 75-60 road win at N.C. Central (1-3) inside McDougald-McLendon Arena Tuesday night.
The Cougars outscored the Eagles in every quarter and had five players score in double figures.

- Charleston struck first as Sophia Tougas scored five early points to help the Cougars take an early 11-6 advantage.
- N.C. Central fought back and went on a 6-0 run before CofC bounced back out of a timeout and closed the first quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 17-14 lead.
- After trading buckets to open the second, Charleston went on an 8-0 spurt to build a 30-18 edge with 6:00 left in the half.
- The Eagles came back with their own 9-0 run and Charleston headed into the break with a 38-34 advantage.
- Charleston started the third quarter on a 12-0 burst and held N.C. Central to just two points in the first 6:06 of the third as they built a 14-point lead (50-36).
- The Eagles cut the Cougars lead to seven with 7:45 left in the game (56-49), but were never able to get any closer as Charleston outscored N.C. Central 19-11 in the remainder of the contest to win by a final of 75-60.
- Junior Taryn Barbot tied her career-high with six steals to go along with 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
- Junior Taylor Barbot tabbed a game-high 17 points while adding seven assists and five rebounds.
- Junior Tyja Beans totaled 11 points, eight boards and two blocks.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo posted her second double-double of the year with 11 points and a game-high 16 boards.
- Redshirt senior Sophia Tougas drained four threes and recorded 14 points, four rebounds and three steals.
- The Cougars dominated the glass, collecting 24 offensive boards and outrebounding the Eagles 53-42 in total.
- Charleston doubled up N.C. Central on points off turnovers, outscoring them 28-14.
- CofC got to the line 27 times compared to N.C. Central's four, and converted on 22 of their 27 free throws.
- Five Cougars scored in double figures.
- Head Coach Robin Harmony earned her 99th win at College of Charleston, her 346th career victory.
