
Harmony Wins 100th at CofC; Cougars Win Second Straight on Road

HAMDEN, Conn. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-0) gutted out a 75-71 win over a talented Quinnipiac squad (2-3) at M&T Bank Arena Friday night.
With the win, Head Coach Robin Harmony earned her 100th career victory at the helm of the Cougars.

- After trading buckets to open the game, Charleston showed it's depth as six different Cougars combined for a 14-0 spurt to help CofC hold a 21-8 advantage after the first stanza.
- The Cougars increased their lead to 15 with 6:51 left in the second, but Quinnipiac outscored Charleston by six in the remainder of the period to make it a nine-point game in favor of CofC at the break (37-28).
- Taryn Barbot scored the first two buckets out of the half before Grace Ezebilo added a layup of her own to push the Cougars edge back to 15 and force a Bobcats timeout two minutes into the third.
- Seeing their lead get cut to 10, Taylor Barbot and Sophia Tougas combined for back-to-back threes to put Charleston up 57-41 with 1:19 left in the third.
- The Bobcats closed the period on an 8-0 burst to cut CofC's lead in half heading into the final period.
- A back-and-forth start and middle of the fourth led to the Cougars holding a 69-66 lead with 2:48 to play.
- A free throw from Taryn Barbot and jumper by her twin Taylor put the Cougars back up six with 1:30 to play.
- The Bobcats continued to fight, but a clutch jumper by Tyja Beans and a free throw from Taylor Barbot sealed the game as the Cougars defeated the Bobcats by a final of 75-71.
- Junior Taryn Barbot posted 13 points and grabbed three rebounds.
- Junior Taylor Barbot stuffed the stat sheet once again, totaling 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo collected a game-high 11 boards to go along with eight points.
- Redshirt senior Sophia Tougas totaled 13 points and was 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Tougas also added four rebounds and two assists.
- Charleston won the rebounding battle 35-24.
- CofC outscored Quinnipiac 38-24 in the paint.
- The Cougars shot an impressive 57.1% from three and 52.8% from the field.
- Charleston scored 15 second chance points compared to Quinnipiac's seven.
- CofC totaled 23 bench points.
- 10 different Cougars scored in the contest.
- Head Coach Robin Harmony earned her 100th win at College of Charleston, and 347th career victory.
- Taylor Barbot surpassed the 500 career point mark.
- Tyja Beans scored her 600th career point.
- "I'm proud of our kids for coming into this place and getting a win in a tough environment," Head Coach Robin Harmony said. "We've got a lot of talent and are a well-rounded team. We used our bench a little different tonight and I'm proud of everyone for stepping up."
- "We were able to keep our composure and hit big shots when we needed to," junior guard Taylor Barbot said. "Tonight was a good win for us and we're going to continue to stay focused and get better everyday."
- Charleston will head to New Orleans, La. for the Big Easy Classic next week. The Cougars will take on New Mexico State Thanksgiving Day before facing off with High Point Saturday afternoon.
