Men's Basketball Falls to Yale in Paradise Jam Semifinals

ST. THOMAS, USVI – The College of Charleston men's basketball team fell to Yale 74-63 in the semifinals of the 2025 Paradise Jam on Sunday evening at the University of the Virgin Islands.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both offenses were firing early, with the Cougars shooting 67% from the field through the first media timeout compared to the Bulldogs 75%.
Yale took their largest lead of the game at 31-22 with seven minutes to play before a 6-0 Cougar run made it 33-28 with four to play, before an 8-5 swing sent Charleston into the break down 41-33.
Yale started the second half on a 6-0 run and took their largest lead of the game at 55-37 at the under 16 media timeout.
Charleston fought back, going on a 9-0 run with nine minutes to play while holding the Bulldogs scoreless for nearly three minutes. Despite offensive production from Connor Hickman and Chol Machot in the final minutes of play, the late game efforts were not enough to mount the comeback.

KEY COUGARS

Machot led Charleston with 15 points followed by Hickman with a season-high 14.
Machot also grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

GAME NOTES

The Bulldogs outshot the Cougars 47% to 39% from the field.
The teams earned an even 35 rebounds a piece.
Charleston recorded a positive assist/turnover ratio for the fifth time this season.
