
Men's Basketball Hosts Charlotte 49ers Sunday at TD Arena

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team returns to TD Arena to host the Charlotte 49ers on Sunday, December 14. Action is set for 4:00 p.m.
STORYLINES
In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
As fans enter the main entrance of TD Arena on November 3, they will see new walk-through magnetometers, or metal detectors. In addition to the existing Clear Bag and prohibited items policy at TD Arena, the magnetometers are a new added security feature to enhance the safety of our fans.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
STORYLINES
- The Cougars, who are 4-6 on the year, are coming off a hard fought 81-75 loss at South Florida on Wednesday. The contest featured five ties, with Charleston largest lead coming at 11 points and South Florida's largest lead at 13 points. Jlynn Counter led Charleston with 19 points, six assists, and four rebounds followed by Connor Hickman with 15 points and five rebounds.
- Charlotte will mark the second straight American Athletic Conference opponent for Chris Mack's program. The all-time series match-up is tied 10-10. The programs met last season at the 2024 Hawaiian Airlines Diamondhead Classic with the Cougars securing the 84-81 victory. Prior to that meeting, the programs had not met since 2018.
- The contest will feature four Cougars that call the Charlotte area home in Jaxon Prunty, Chadlyn Traylor, Christian Reeves, and Bryce Baker.
- Sunday's contest could mark the 100th career start for graduate student Connor Hickman, who has scored in double-figures in all five of his appearances this season.
- Redshirt-sophomore Chol Machot recorded a season-high six blocks at South Florida, tied for the third most in a single game in program history. His 26 on the year rank 11th in the nation while his 2.6 blocks per game rank 15th.
- Rookie Martin Kalu is the only Cougar to play in and start all ten games so far this season. Charleston has sent out seven different starting lineups entering Sunday's game.
- Four different Cougars are currently averaging double-figures points per game, led by Hickman with 15.2 and followed by Counter with 12.0, Kalu with 11.1, and Machot with 10.2.
- Charleston currently ranks 14th in the nation in turnovers per game, committing an average of 9.4.
- The program is approaching its 1,400 overall victory with 1,387 all-time wins.
- Charlotte enters Sunday's match with an identical 4-6 record on the year. The 49ers are coming off a 79-53 loss to Utah State on December 7. Ben Bradford led Charlotte vs. the Aggies with 13 points followed by Dezanye Mingo with ten.
- Bradford paces the 49ers scoring efforts, averaging 15.1 points per game followed by Anton Bonke with 10.9 and Mingo with 10.1. Bonke controls the glass, grabbing 9.1 rebounds per game.
- The 49ers defeated Charleston's CAA competitor North Carolina A&T 74-57 on December 2 in Charlotte.
- Spirit Day participants will join the Charleston Cheeleaders and Cougarettes for a special halftime performance!
- Doors will open 1.5 hours prior to tip-off.
- Concession stands will open when doors open, and the Cougar Spirit Shop will open one hour prior to tip-off.
- Add your tickets to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay App prior to arriving at TD Arena for the smoothest entry experience.

- An ADA drop-off lane is provided in the right-hand lane traveling along Meeting Street next to TD Arena.
In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
- Moving forward, a valid ID is required to be scanned/swiped for each transaction.
- Vertical IDs will not be accepted at sales locations regardless of the individual's age.
- All ID checks will be handled directly by our Aramark concession partners at each stand. EPI staff will no longer check ID's or provide wristbands.
- No more than two (2) alcoholic beverages may be sold or served per transaction.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Fans will enter TD Arena at the Meeting Street entrance.
- Once inside, fans will be asked to take their belongings out of their pockets and place them in a bin. This includes phone, wallet, keys, etc.
- If you bring a bag compliant with the Clear Bag policy, your items can be placed in the bag.
- EPI security staff will provide guidance on when to walk through the magnetometer and assist in retrieving your belongings after you clear through the magnetometer.
- Finally, approach the pedestal ticket scanners at the base of the stairs, scan your tickets, and cheer on the Cougars!
- Fans can watch the broadcast live on FloCollege or listen to the Varsity App with the Voice of the Cougars Everett German and Danny Johnson on both calls.
