SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (7-3) fell to Cleveland State (11-2) 67-61 at the Puerto Rico Clasico Friday afternoon.
The two teams traded leads 14 times throughout the contest, but a late run and a crucial three from the Vikings, who are ranked 21st in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major poll, propelled them to victory at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum.

- Cleveland State scored the first four points of the game before Jami Hill and Anilys Rolon combined for seven straight points to give Charleston an early 7-4 advantage.
- Anilys Rolon hit her second three of the quarter to put CofC up 12-10 with 3:21 left, but the Vikings went on a 7-0 run of their own as they held a 17-14 edge after the first stanza.
- The two teams traded buckets before Jami Hill and Sophia Tougas hit back-to-back threes to tie the game 26-all with 4:04 left in the half.
- Cleveland State doubled up the Cougars in rest of the half and took a 34-30 lead into the break.
- Coming out of the locker room, Grace Ezebilo and Sophia Tougas scored seven straight points to put Charleston up 37-34 three minutes into the third.
- Charleston continued to hold a three point advantage after Taryn Barbot drilled her second triple of the quarter with 1:17 left, but Cleveland State scored the final five points of the period to take a 47-45 lead into the last 10 minutes.
- A layup from Grace Ezebilo and two-straight buckets from Marissa Brown put Charleston in front 55-52 with 5:40 left in the contest.
- Anilys Rolon hit a three to give the Cougars a four point lead (58-54), but Cleveland State went on a 9-1 run to take a 63-59 edge with 1:22 remaining.
- Grace Ezebilo brought Charleston within two with a minute to play, however the Vikings would hit a three and get a stop to seal the game. A late free throw from the Vikings made it a 67-61 final in favor of Cleveland State.
- Senior Marissa Brown totaled nine points on a .571% clip.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo led Charleston with 10 points and nine boards.
- Freshman Anilys Rolon tied her career-high with nine points and hit three triples.
- Redshirt senior Sophia Tougas added nine points.
- The Vikings shot 49% from the field and 50% from three, while the Cougars shot 34.8% from the field and 26.7% from beyond the arc.
- Cleveland State held the edge in points in the paint (32-26) and fast break points (10-6).
- The Vikings won three out of the four quarters.
- Taryn Barbot scored her 1,247th point as a Cougar and is 17th on the Cougars all-time scoring list.
- Taryn Barbot grabbed her 500th career rebound.
