
Men's Basketball Returns to Play at South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team travels to Tampa to take on the South Florida Bulls Wednesday, December 10. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Yuengling Center.

STORYLINES
- This will be just the second all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Bulls with the first taking place last season at TD Arena. Charleston won the contest 86-71 to open the season and the Chris Mack era of Charleston basketball.
- The Bulls will be the first of two consecutive American Athletic Conference opponents for the Cougars, who will host Charlotte on December 14 at TD Arena.
- Former South Florida head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, who tragically passed away prior to the start of the 2024-25 season, served as an assistant coach for the Cougars from 2012-2014.
- Charleston enters the contest 4-5 overall, coming off a 96-73 loss to Belmont on November 30 at TD Arena. Connor Hickman led Charleston with 20 points, his most scored in a Charleston uniform. It was the fifth 20+ performance so far this season from a Cougar.
- The Cougars had a positive assist/turnover ratio for the sixth time this season against the Bruins and sank a season-high 11 triples in the loss, the third time this season crossing the 10+ threshold.
- Chol Machot currently ranks 27th in the nation in blocks per game (2.22). He recorded a season-high five vs. UMass, tied for the fourth most in a single game in program history.
- Four different Cougars are averaging double-digit points per game, led by Hickman with 15.2 and followed by Jlynn Counter with 11.1, Martin Kalu with 11.0, and Chol Machot with 10.2.
- Charleston ranks 11th in the nation in turnovers per game, committing 9.1 per game.
- The program is approaching its 1,400 overall victory, currently sitting at 1,387 all-time.
- Led by first year head coach Bryan Hodgson, South Florida enters Wednesday's contest 5-4 overall after defeating previously unbeaten Utah State 74-61 on December 4 in Tampa.
- Josh Omojafo leads the Bulls offensive efforts, averaging 14.7 points per game followed by Joseph Pinion with 13.9 points per game. Izaiyah Nelson is averaging nearly a double-double for USF with 12.4 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game.
- The Bulls currently rank second in the nation in free throws made per game (22.6) and fifth in total attempts (30.2). Hodgson's squad also ranks 13th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (14.89).
- The contest will air live on ESPN+. As always, Cougar fans can listen to The Voice of the Cougars Everett German on the Varsity App.
- Fans are encouraged to attend the first Kickin' Chicken watch party of the season to cheer on the Cougars with fellow supporters! The watch party will take place at the Mount Pleasant location.
