Women's Basketball Set to Host Hofstra

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team will face Hofstra inside TD Arena on Sunday, February 2 to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

OPENING TIP

The Cougars enter Sunday after a Friday night victory over Stony Brook, avenging their loss to the Seawolves earlier in the season with a 66-53 win.
Charleston returned home following a road split last weekend, securing a victory over Delaware after a narrow two-point loss to Drexel. The Cougars' defense was a key factor in their win against the Blue Hens, forcing 30 turnovers.
With a 5-3 record in conference play, Charleston aims to build momentum with two-straight victories, with a 8-2 record inside TD Arena on the season.
Taryn Barbot continues to lead the team offensively, averaging 13.6 points per game, while Taylor Barbot follows closely with 11.6 points per contest.

BY THE NUMBERS

The Cougars lead the nation in turnover margin, posting an impressive +11.00 differential per game.
Charleston ranks third nationally in turnovers forced per game, averaging 25.11 takeaways per contest.
CofC sits fifth in the country in steals per game, averaging 13.4 takeaways per matchup.
The Cougars dominate the glass, ranking sixth nationally in offensive rebounds per game with 16.9 boards.
Charleston is also holding opponents to 55.4 points per game, good for 19th in the nation in scoring defense.
Junior forward Lara Rohkohl continues to be a dominant presence on the boards, ranking third nationally in offensive rebounds per game and 17th in blocks per game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Hofstra holds a 9-10 record on the season and stands 4-4 in conference play.
The Pride will be coming to Charleston after a narrow loss to UNCW on Friday night, falling 60-57 in overtime.
The Cougars met Hofstra earlier in the season in Long Island, where Charleston pulled out a 64-51 win.
The Pride is led by Chloe Sterling, averaging 14.1 points per game for the Pride. Two other players are averaging double-digits, including Emma Von Essen with 11.7 and LaNae' Corbett with 11.4.
