COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eight College of Charleston athletes, including five freshmen, made their way into the top 10 in school indoor track and field history at the Gamecock Challenge on Saturday in Columbia.
Freshman Emma Townsend led the way by entering the record book in two events, including third in the 200m (25.83) and fifth in the 60m (7.95). Gabby David joined Townsend by running a 7.99 in the latter event to take over eighth place.
First-year runner Caroline Himstreet had the fastest 3000m time in almost 12 years (9:48.41) to finish sixth in the meet and move into second in school history.
