Cougar Runners Head to Camel City Distance

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Fourteen College of Charleston athletes will compete in three events at the Camel City Distance on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Cougar runners will be part of the field in the 800m, 3000m and mile and will include four who are part of the indoor record book at those distances.
Freshman Caroline Himstreet leads the way in the mile after setting a school record (4:53.34) at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge. She also took over second place in the 3000m (9:48.41) last week at the Gamecock Challenge.
Fellow first-year runner Jeorgi Gavalas is eighth in the mile (5:05.27) while also holding the school mark in the 1000m (2:57.03).
Savannah Stoutt (2:16.01) and Andie Harding (2:17.92) are the pacesetters in the 800m, ranking fourth and sixth, respectively, in Cougar annals. Harding is also second in the 1000m (3:03.45) while Stoutt is fifth in the mile (4:59.98) and seventh in the 3000m (10:05.40).
