
van Wyk Makes History, Earns Third CAA Golfer of the Year Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston senior Kieron van Wyk headlines the 2025 CAA Men's Golf Postseason Awards with his record-breaking third CAA Golfer of the Year honor.
The Cougars' van Wyk etched his name in the CAA record book as the only student athlete to secure three Golfer of the Year awards. The senior from Ruimsig, South Africa is ranked No. 27 in the country, according to Clippd. With an adjusted round score of 69.0, van Wyk has earned four top-three finishes this season, including a pair of wins at the Hootie Intercollegiate (March 23-25) and White Sands Collegiate (Oct. 25-27, 2024).
The senior played in two PGA Tour events this spring, the Puerto Rico Open and Valspar Championship, earning a T4 finish in Puerto Rico.
In January, he captured the APGA Tour's season-opening Farmers Insurance Invitational on Sunday at Torrey Pines Golf Course (South), becoming the first amateur golfer to win an APGA event since the tour started in 2010. van Wyk is the top ranked golfer in the Bridgestone APGA Collegiate Rankings. Currently ranked No. 22 in the nation, he was also named to the Haskins Award Watch List.
Nevill Ruiter joins van Wyk on the All-CAA First Team. A two-time first team honoree, Ruiter posted a 71.4 adjusted stroke average. The senior Bergen, Netherlands from took 11th at the 2025 CAA Championship and had four individual finishes in the top 20.
The Cougars will continue the 2025 season Auburn, Alabama for the NCAA Auburn Regional May 12-14.
