RALEIGH, N.C. - 2025 CAA Golfer of the Year Kieron van Wyk will make his professional debut on the Korn Ferry Tour at the UNC Health Championship presented by STITCH May 29 – June 1 at the Raleigh Country Club.
The Korn Ferry Tour is the developmental pathway tour for the PGA Tour. van Wyk claimed his spot in the field via the PGA Pathway to Progression program, earning the top spot in the final 2024-2025 Bridgestone APGA Collegiate Rankings. This achievement – made possible through the strategic partnership and programming between Bridgestone Americas, PGA TOUR Pathway to Progression and the APGA – provides various benefits, resources and opportunities to support their transition to professional golf.
"It's a new chapter of mine that I'm ready to get started and it's something that I've been waiting to do all my life. Playing as an amateur, there's not as much expectation and pressure. You just go out and enjoy yourself once you get the invites and you're just happy to be there," said van Wyk. "Now that I've turned pro, I know what I've done and what I've shown in the starts that I've played in. I know that my game can compete out here and that I belong."
The South Africa native will tee off at 8:50 a.m. Thursday with Americans Hunter Eichhorn and Michael Brennan.
"I think the goal of mine is to finish and secure a Korn Ferry card for next year. But most importantly, just to have fun while I'm doing it. It's a new world for me. It's a new chapter in my life."
van Wyk, who remained atop the Bridgestone APGA Collegiate Rankings from its initial release, clinched the top spot after finishing T7 at the CAA Championship. It capped off an impressive season that included a top-five finish in his PGA TOUR debut at the Puerto Rico Open, which qualified him for the PGA TOUR's Valspar Championship two weeks later.
