HERTFORDSHIRE, United Kingdom - Laura Fuenfstueck '17 secured her first ever Ladies European Tour victory on Sunday with a one stroke win at PIF London Championship.
The Cougar alum and Germany native held a three-shot lead entering the final round. After a rough start and ending three-over after four holes, she recovered and produced a winning back nine to leave her with a one-foot birdie to seal her first ever Ladies European Tour (LET) title with a score of 10-under-par.
"I am so happy for Laura," said Charleston head coach Jamie Futrell. "She has been a very good player for many years on the LET and it is great to see her break through with her first win."
Fuenfstueck was the first women's golfer in school history to advance to nationals and second all-time in CAA history. She was a three-time CAA Golfer of the Year and four-time All-CAA selection from 2014-2017.
"Hopefully, we're just getting started. It's massively kind of validating because everyone defines themselves if they're a Tour winner or not," said Fuenfstueck. "I know that I can be competitive enough to put myself in contention, so now getting it over the line having been close before, is me knowing I can do it and hopefully, I can back myself a bit more in the future."
