Women's Golf Hosts Daniel Island Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's golf team will host the Daniel Island Invitational at the Daniel Island Club March 2-3.
The 15-team field includes eight of the top 100 in the latest NCAA Clippd rankings - NC State (46), Charleston (52), High Point (71), Xavier (80), Furman (82), Charlotte (83), Western Kentucky (88), East Carolina (96).
The Daniel Island Club opened in 2001 and has since become one of the premier golf destinations in the Lowcountry. The private, members-only club features two championship courses: Beresford Creek, designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio, and Ralston Creek, designed by Rees Jones. The club has also hosted professional-level events. From 2009 to 2011, The Daniel Island Club hosted the Nationwide Tour Championship, the season-ending event of the Nationwide Tour, bringing some of the top rising professionals in the game to Charleston.
The Cougars are coming off a top ten finish at Spartan Sun Coast Invitational. Molly Hardwick led the Cougars with a T12 finish, carding an even-par round Tuesday highlighted by a bogey-free back nine for the Cougars' best round of the tournament. Hardwick earned CAA Golfer of the Week honors for her performance. Junior Emilie von Finckenstein also finished in the top 20, T19 after having four birdies in Tuesday's round.
Charleston will play will NC State and East Carolina for Monday's opening round.
