Cougars Continue Road Trip at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team concludes a two-game road trip at Stony Brook on Saturday, January 17. Action is set for 4:00 p.m. on Long Island.

STORYLINES
- Charleston is 8-0 all-time against the Seawolves dating back to 1998. The programs battled in the 2024 CAA Championship game with the Cougars earning the title in an instant classic 82-79 overtime bout. Saturday's contest will be the only regular season meeting between the Cougars and Seawolves this season.
- The Cougars are coming off a 61-52 loss at Towson on Thursday night in Baltimore. Despite outscoring Towson 35-27 in the second half, the Cougars could not overcome a 34-17 first half deficit. Connor Hickman had a game-high 20 points, tied for his best performance in a Cougar uniform. Two-time CAA Player of the Week Jlynn Counter contributed seven points, six assists, and seven rebounds in the loss. The graduate student is third in the CAA in total assists (82), assists per game (4.8), and fourth in field goal percentage (48.3).
- With the loss on Thursday night, Charleston's seven game win streak was snapped. The streak was longest of the Chris Mack era of Charleston basketball.
- Chol Machot has recorded at least one block in 13 straight contests. The redshirt sophomore notched three vs. the Tigers to give him 51 on the season, already the ninth most in a single season in program history. He currently ranks third in nation in total blocks and fifth in blocks per game (2.83).
- The Cougars are one of the top teams in the nation in getting to the charity stripe, ranking 42nd in free throw attempts per game and 52nd in free throw makes per game.
- Four different Cougars are currently averaging in double-figure scoring led by Counter with 15.5 points per game and followed by Hickman with 12.4, Colby Duggan with 12.2, and Martin Kalu with 11.2. All four have notched a 20+ point performance so far this season
- Stony Brook enters Saturday's contest 10-9 overall and 2-4 in CAA play. The Seawolves defeated Long Island rival Hofstra 76-71 on Thursday night to knock off the previously undefeated in league play Pride.
- Erik Pratt leads Stony Brook with 18.6 points per game and the seventh best field goal percentage in the conference (.415). Richard Goods leads the Seawolves rebounding efforts, grabbing 6.3 per game.
- The Seawolves rank third in the CAA in total threes made with 170 on the year.
