
Men's Basketball Opens 2026 on CBS Sports Network vs. William & Mary

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team hosts William & Mary on Monday, January 5 to open the 2026 portion of the season at TD Arena. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

GAME DAY REMINDERS
In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
As fans enter the main entrance of TD Arena on November 3, they will see new walk-through magnetometers, or metal detectors. In addition to the existing Clear Bag and prohibited items policy at TD Arena, the magnetometers are a new added security feature to enhance the safety of our fans.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
STORYLINES
- Charleston holds the slight 12-10 all-time series edge over W&M, including seven straight at home in Charleston and six of the last seven overall. The Cougars and Tribe are two of four teams holding a 2-0 record after the opening slate of the CAA contests.
- The Cougars are coming off their fifth straight win, a 85-81 triumph at Elon on New Years Eve. The five-game win streak matches the longest streak of the Mack era set in 2024-25 (12/23-1/9). The Cougars shot 90% from the free throw line at Elon, their best performance from the charity stripe so far this season while holding the league's leading offense below their season average.
- Martin Kalu led Charleston vs. the Phoenix with 19 points followed by Jlynn Counter with 16, Chol Machot with 15, and Connor Hickman with ten. Two Cougars flirted with triple-doubles as Machot added 15 rebounds and seven blocks while Counter dished out nine assists and grabbed nine rebounds.
- Reigning CAA Player of the Week Counter averaged 22.5 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, and 7.5 assists per game through the opening two games of CAA play. The graduate student dished out a career-high nine assists at Elon.
- Machot has become one of the top shot blockers in the nation, ranking 4th in the county in total blocks (41) and ninth in blocks per game (2.73). His seven blocks at Elon are the second most in a single game in program history. His 15 rebounds at Elon are the most grabbed by a Cougar since Jarrell Brantley had 17 in 2018.
- Preseason All-CAA First Team member Colby Duggan made his Cougar debut vs. Drexel after missing the opening 13 games due to injury. The junior contributed ten points in his return.
- Charleston ranks within the top 50 nationally in both free throw attempts per game (25.1, 46th), and turnovers per game (10.3, 50th).
- William & Mary enters Monday's contest 11-3 overall on a three-game winning streak. The Tribe match the Cougars 2-0 CAA records with wins over Towson and Stony Brook to end 2025.
- Kyle Pulliam leads the W&M offense, averaging 11.8 points per game followed by Reese Miller with 11.3 and Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi with 11.2. Chase Lowe controls the glass, grabbing 4.8 rebounds per game.
- The Tribe lead the CAA in assists per game (19.6), bench points per game (33.29), field goal percentage (49.9), and defensive rebounds per game (28.07). They also rank sixth nationally in three point percentage defense (26.8%).

GAME DAY REMINDERS
- Doors will open 1.5 hours prior to tip-off.
- Concession stands will open when doors open, and the Cougar Spirit Shop will open one hour prior to tip-off.
- Add your tickets to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay App prior to arriving at TD Arena for the smoothest entry experience.

- An ADA drop-off lane is provided in the right-hand lane traveling along Meeting Street next to TD Arena.
In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
- Moving forward, a valid ID is required to be scanned/swiped for each transaction.
- Vertical IDs will not be accepted at sales locations regardless of the individual's age.
- All ID checks will be handled directly by our Aramark concession partners at each stand. EPI staff will no longer check ID's or provide wristbands.
- No more than two (2) alcoholic beverages may be sold or served per transaction.

- Fans will enter TD Arena at the Meeting Street entrance.
- Once inside, fans will be asked to take their belongings out of their pockets and place them in a bin. This includes phone, wallet, keys, etc.
- If you bring a bag compliant with the Clear Bag policy, your items can be placed in the bag.
- EPI security staff will provide guidance on when to walk through the magnetometer and assist in retrieving your belongings after you clear through the magnetometer.
- Finally, approach the pedestal ticket scanners at the base of the stairs, scan your tickets, and cheer on the Cougars!
- The contest marks the first of six appearances for the Cougars on CBS Sports Network. Paul Fritschner and John Giannini will have the nationally televised call
