
Cougars Set to Compete at Fire Tower Project

Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the Fire Tower Project hosted by Appalachian State on Friday, October 2. Â
Most recently, Charleston raced at the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State on Friday, September 18th. The women placed 15th out of 31 teams, and the men finished 23rd out of 29. Â
The women's side was led by Senior Abby Mogg, who finished with a 5k time of 18:27.1, followed by sophomore Sofia Day with a time of 18:27.3. Gail Vaikutis, Bella Hudson, and Katie O'Toole rounded out the Cougars' top five. All five scorers for Charleston finished within 17 seconds of each other.Â
Sophomore Adrian Miller led the men's side, earning an 8k time of 25:24.7. Andrew Catapano and Thomas Flaig followed, recording times of 25:51.6 and 26:09.1, respectively. Greyson Brown and Kyle Nitsche rounded out the scoring for Charleston, finishing in 26:36.3 and 26:39.6, respectively. Â
Nitsche, along with Joshua Wineland, Michael Colosi, and Avery Belk recorded new personal bests at the meet.Â
The field for Friday's race will consist of 12 teams in the men's 8k, and 14 in the women's 6k.Â
The women's 6k will begin at 5:15 pm, followed by the men's 8k at 5:45 pm.Â
