
CofC Tops High Point in Five-Set Thriller

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sophomore Makena Parthen recorded her first career double-double as College of Charleston volleyball defeated High Point in five sets (18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 28-26, 15-12) Tuesday evening at TD Arena.

The Cougars (15-2) winning streak extended to 15 straight matches while the Panthers slip to 9-5 on the year.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST HIGH POINT:
- Parthen collected a career-high 12 blocks and tied her career mark with 13 kills. The middle blocker also hit .385 in the victory.
- Trailing 19-16 in the fourth set, Charleston went on a 4-0 run to take the lead, eventually taking the set 28-26 on a Parthen kill.
- Charleston hit .263 with 7 kills in the final set.
- Junior Helena Vukovic tallied her third double-double of the year with 36 assists and 10 digs.
- Vukovic also had 4 kills and 4 blocks.
- Four different Cougars registered multiple blocks Tuesday.
- Defensively, sophomore Jumana Martin collected 25 digs while freshman Violet Poole ripped off a season-best 15 digs on the backline.
- CofC finished the match with 13 blocks in the victory and have had at least 13 in three of the last four contests.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 2-1 in the series against High Point and 2-0 at home.
- CofC's 15-match win streak is the longest since it won 15 straight Sept. 27 through Nov. 17 in 2017.
- Tuesday marked the 200th win in TD Arena.
- Vukovic picked up her team-leading 37th service ace Tuesday.
- Parthen's 12 blocks are tied for the most in a five-match set in school history.
- In her last four matches, Parthen is hitting .341 with 42 kills (2.21/set) and 28 blocks (1.47/set).
- Martin has at least 20 digs in 19 career matches.
