Cougars Battle Camels on CBS Sports Network

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team (16-10, 9-4) travels to Campbell (12-13, 6-6) for the second meeting with the Fighting Camels this season on Sunday, February 15. Action is set for 5:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
STORYLINES
STORYLINES
- Charleston is 18-4 all-time against the Camels and 16-0 in the Division I era. The Camels last defeated the Cougars in 1991.
- The Cougars are coming off a 66-62 loss to Hofstra on Thursday night in Charleston. It was the Cougars' first loss this season by less five points. Colby Duggan and Chris Davis Jr. led Charleston with 14 points each. Davis Jr. added five rebounds in his first career start at TD Arena.
- Charleston continues to be one of the top teams in the country in getting to the free throw line, ranking 35th in free throw attempts per game (18.2) and 32nd in attempts per game (18.2). Charleston also is one of the top teams in the nation in defensive rebounds per game, ranking 29th (27.42).
- Counter leads the CAA in total assists (136) and assists per game (5.4). His 136 total assists are currently tied for 17th in a single season in program history.
- Redshirt sophomore Chol Machot has recorded 65 blocks so far this season, the fifth most in the country. Two blocks against the Camels would move him to fifth all-time in a single season in program history.
- Three Cougars are currently averaging double-figure points per game, led by Counter with 16.4, Reeves with 10.3, and Duggan with 10.2.
- Rookies Davis Jr. and Chadlyn Traylor have seen an increased role in the later stretch of conference play, combining for 51 minutes and 25 points in the loss to Hofstra.
- After Campbell took an early 8-2 lead to start the game, three straight makes from Connor Hickman highlighted a 14-3 run to give Charleston their first lead of the game at18-17 with ten minutes to play. tied the game 22-22 with eight minutes to play before going on a 9-0 run of their own. A driving Hickman layup and back-to-back Reeves slam dunks helped Charleston enter the locker room down one 35-34. Hickman led the Cougars with 14 first half points.
- Neither team took more than two-point edge out of the locker room before a 14-0 Cougar run highlighted by a Davis Jr. triple and another Reeves slam gave Charleston their largest lead of the night 56-46 with 13:30 to play.
- Campbell stayed close as the teams combined 12-13 from the field down the stretch. Counter scored his 1,500th career point on a three to erupt TD Arena.
- After maintaining a two-possession lead for majority of the second half, Campbell cut the deficit to two points with 5.3 seconds to play. The Camels fouled and sent Counter to line immediately following. The grad transfer delivered, sinking both opportunities to seal the victory.
