Big Men Take Over, Lead Cougars to Victory Over Camels

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The big man duo of Christian Reeves and Chol Machot combined for 16-20 from the field to help lead the College of Charleston men's basketball team to a 62-57 win over Campbell. With the win, Charleston moves to 17-10 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

- The teams traded baskets to open the half with neither taking more than a three-point advantage as Charleston led 16-14 through the opening ten minutes of play. Chol Machot continued to showcase his shot blocking abilities, recording three blocks during the frame.

- A Jaxon Prunty triple gave Charleston their largest lead of the half at 21-16 with nine to play to kickstart three straight Cougar makes field with a baseline-to-baseline Chadlyn Traylor lay and a Colby Duggan triple.
- Charleston held the Camels scoreless from the field for nearly five minutes to push the lead to as much as ten. Three consecutive Christian Reeves putbacks gave the big man his sixth double-double of the season to help send Charleston to the locker room up 36-28.

- Campbell went on a 10-0 run to tie the contest at 40-40 with 14 minutes to play before taking their first lead since 17:52 in the first half on the next possession. The Camels led by as much as six before a 6-0 Cougar run tied the contest again at 48-48 on a Machot floater in the paint. Machot took over, going on a personal 12-0 run to help separate Charleston.
- The teams combined 2-18 from the field in the final three minutes of play. Clutch free throws in the final seconds of action from Duggan and Jlynn Counter helped seal the 62-57 victory.
- Reeves recorded a game-high 18 points and game-high 15 rebounds with a perfect 9-9 performance from the field.
- Machot added 17 points, six rebounds, and six blocks. The redshirt sophomore moves to fifth all-time in a single season in blocks.
- Duggan and Chris Davis Jr. added eight points each.
- Counter recorded his 500th career rebound in first half. The point guard dished out a game-high eight assists to add to his league leading total.

GAME NOTES
- Charleston shot 46% from the field compared to 35% from the Camels. The Cougar bench outscored the Camels 24-5.
- Campbell won the rebounding battle 39-34.
- The Cougars eight trips to the free throw line are the program's lowest this season.
- Charleston has not lost a game when leading at the half so far this season.
- Charleston will travel to North Carolina A&T to face the Aggie on Thursday, February 19. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. in Greensboro.
