Men's Basketball Tops North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team defeated North Carolina A&T 74-61 on Thursday night in Greensboro. With the win, the Cougars move to 18-10 overall and 11-4 in CAA play.

- Charleston jumped out to a 10-0 lead behind makes from Christian Reeves, Chris Davis Jr., Martin Kalu, and Jlynn Counter, not letting North Carolina A&T attempt any second chance shots through the opening four minutes of play.

- After holding the Aggies scoreless for over three minutes, back-to-back Connor Hickman threes gave the Cougars a 23-9 lead with nine minutes to play.

- North Carolina A&T followed the drought with an 8-0 run to cut the Charleston lead to six. The Cougars regained momentum to end the half on a 9-0 run of their own behind a Davis Jr. three at the buzzer to take a 41-26 lead in to the break.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game at 47-30 before the first media timeout of the second half. After Charleston led by as much as 23, the Aggies went on an 18-0 run to cut the deficit to four with eight minutes to play after the Cougars went scoreless for six minutes.
- Charleston answered as they had all night, using a 7-0 run over ninety seconds to regain a 12-point edge and control the remainder of the game.
- Counter had a game-high 16 points to go with seven assists and four rebounds.
- Davis Jr. recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high ten rebounds.
- Reeves grabbed seven rebounds, adding 13 points.

GAME NOTES
- Charleston shot 44% from the field compared to 41% from the Aggies. The Cougars shots 53% from three in the first half.
- The Cougars won the rebounding battle 38-35 and assisted on 19 of 27 made field goals.
- Charleston has not lost a contest this season when leading at the half.
- Charleston will host Monmouth on Saturday, February 21 in the Cougars' final home contest of the season. Action is set for 4:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
