SARASOTA, Fla. - The College of Charleston women's golf team battled windy conditions to earn a top ten finish in a stacked Spartan Sun Coast Invitational. The Cougars defeated three teams currently ranked in the top 50 in the Clippd standings out of a totla of nine in the field.
"That was one of the windiest days I have been part of in all my years of coaching. We showed a great deal of heart today," said head coach Jamie Futrell.
With winds up to 40 mph, all 15 teams in the field were over par.
Molly Hardwick led Charleston with a T12 finish, playing an even par round on Tuesday with a bogey-free back nine for the Cougars top round of the tournament. Junior Emilie von Finckenstein joined Hardwick in the top 20 with a T19 finish, sinking four birdies on Tuesday.
Charleston returns to action at home March 2-3 at the Daniel Island Invitational.
