Cougars Secure Double Bye with Senior Day Win

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team secured at least a top four seed and double-bye in the upcoming 2026 CAA Men's Basketball Championship with a 74-63 win over Monmouth to close out the home slate for the season at TD Arena.

- The teams traded buckets to start the contest, knotted up at 12-12 with 13 minutes to play in the opening frame.
- Charleston took a 35-29 lead on a Connor Hickman triple with 4:20 left to play, the largest lead of the game for either team. The Cougars maintained the edge taking a 39-25 advantage into the locker room. Charleston had 24 points in the paint after 20 minutes led by Christian Reeves with 11 points.

- Martin Kalu sank a triple to start the second half for Charleston, whose defense caused three Monmouth turnovers in the opening minutes to push a 7-0 Cougar run. Monmouth responded with a 7-0 run of their own to cut the deficit to two points before a Chol Machot old-fashioned three-point play extended the Charleston led back to four.

- Chris Davis Jr. took over scoring back-to-back triples to kickstart a 13-2 Charleston run. The Cougars never looked back on their way to the program's third straight victory.
- Reeves had a game-high 19 points to go with ten rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season.
- Davis Jr. recorded a career-best 16 points with four rebounds in 30 minutes of action.

- Jlynn Counter added 14 points, six assists, and four rebounds.
- Machot matched Counter with 14 points of his own, going 6-9 from the field.
- Kalu recorded three steals and five rebounds.
- Charleston out shot Monmouth 46% to 43%. The teams had an even 45 rebounds a piece.
- The Cougars committed eight turnovers, the 11th time this season Chris Mack's squad has given up ten or less.
- Charleston had 21 total assists on 27 made field goals
- The Cougars remain unbeaten on the year when leading at halftime.
