Men's Basketball Earns 20th Win of the Season

HAMPTON, Va. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team earned the Cougars' 20th win of the season with an 85-71 win over Hampton. With the win, Charleston has secured at least the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship.

- Charleston jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and continued to keep the momentum, grabbing five offensive rebounds in the opening four minutes of play.

- The Cougars held the Pirates to a 1-9 stretch from the field to take a 27-12 lead with eight minutes remaining in the half.
- Martin Kalu and Connor Hickman provided the late first half offense as Kalu made three straight field goals paired with back-to-back makes from deep for Hickman to give Charleston their largest lead of the day at 41-23 with two minutes remaining in the half. Hampton ended the half with three straight field goals to send Charleston into the locker room up 42-30.

- As the pace picked up in second half, Charleston had an answer for every Hampton strike. Kalu, Hickman, and Jlynn Counter helped the Cougars go on a 6-0 run to take a 20-point lead with 14 minutes to play.

- Hampton cut the deficit to nine points, but it was short lived as Charleston immediately answered with a successful trip to the free throw line from Kalu. The Cougars ended the game on a 7-0 run to earn the program's 20th victory of the season.
- Kalu had a game-high 21 points, one point off of his career-high.
- Christian Reeves recorded his eighth career double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds.
- Hickman finished with 16 points, shooting 60% from the field.
- Chadlyn Traylor dished out a career-high seven assists with zero turnovers.
- Duggan added ten points followed by Counter and Chris Davis Jr. with nine each. Davis Jr. also contributed six rebounds and four assists.

GAME NOTES
- Charleston shot 53% from the field compared to 40% for the Pirates. The Cougars totaled 46 points in the paint.
- The Cougars won the rebounding battle 40-26.
- Charleston assisted on 20 of the Cougars' 30 made field goals while only committing nine turnovers.
- The teams took a combined 48 trips to the charity stripe.
