STORYLINES
STORYLINES
- Charleston is 6-0 all-time against Hampton dating back to 1999.
- Chris Mack's program secured a double bye in the 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday with a 74-63 win over Monmouth at TD Arena to close the home slate. After a back-and-forth start, Charleston took a 35-29 lead on a Connor Hickman triple with 4:20 left to play in the first half and never looked back. Reeves had a game-high 19 points to go with ten rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season while rookie Chris Davis Jr. recorded a career-best 16 points with four rebounds.
- After moving into the starting lineup vs. Hofstra on February 12, Davis Jr. has continued to have a string of career games highlighted by his first double-double at North Carolina A&T and a career-high scoring effort vs. Monmouth.
- Chol Machot currently ranks fourth in the country in total blocks (75) and seventh in blocks per game (2.59). The next closest CAA player has 37 on the year - his teammate and fellow seven-footer Christian Reeves who currently leads the league in field goal percentage through conference play.
- Graduate point guard Jlynn Counter is the only player in the CAA to rank in the top ten in conference play in points per game, assists per game, and steals per game. He leads the Cougars scoring efforts averaging 15.9 points per game.
- Charleston is one of the top defensive rebounding teams in the country, ranking 32nd in defensive rebounds per game (27.21).
- The Cougars and Pirates met earlier this season on January 10 at TD Arena with Charleston earning the 74-70 victory. With the contest tied 59-59 with four minutes to play, a Reeves tip-in dunk and-1 opportunity helped shift the energy in before a series of clutch free throws helped seal the win for Charleston.
- Colby Duggan led Charleston with 22 points, his most in a Cougar uniform. The junior went 7-13 from the field and a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe.
- Counter added 19 points and seven assists while Machot grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and recorded six blocks.
- Charleston shot 51% from the field compared to 40% from the Pirates.
- The contest will air live on FloCollege. As always, Cougar fans can listen to The Voice of the Cougars Everett German on the Varsity App.
